A business license is required for all businesses operating in the city limits of Twin Oaks and must renew their license annually. The license year for all businesses begins July 1st and ends June 30th. Licenses are due and payable on or before July 1st of each year. Penalties are applied after July 31st. Business Licenses must be displayed at the Twin Oaks business location in a visible location.Business Licenses, Taxation and Miscellaneous Business Regulations are regulated in accordance with the Twin Oaks Code of Ordinances.
Prior to applying for a Business License, complete the following steps:
- Contact City Hall or consult our Code of Ordinances to confirm business use is permitted.
- If construction or renovations are needed, you must obtain Municipal Zoning Approval before applying for necessary building permits through St. Louis County.
- Obtain an Commerical Occupancy Permit
- Once St. Louis County has issued your Certificate of Occupancy, your business is eligible to apply for a Business License.
- If your business collects and remit sales tax to the State of Missouri, you must submit an Affidavit of No Tax Due issued by the Missouri Department of Revenue dated no longer than 90 days prior to the date of submission of the application of the business license. The affidavit must show "Twin Oaks" as the political subdivision.
Home Occupations
Home-based businesses are permitted in all residential zoning districts, provided that the primary use of the home remains residential. These businesses are considered accessory uses and must operate in a way that does not alter the residential character of the home or negatively impact the surrounding neighborhood, in accordance with RSMo 64.008. Home-based businesses are not required to obtain a business license under this statute.
Liquor License
Any business that plans to sell or dispense any intoxicating liquor or nonintoxicating beer in Twin Oaks are required to have a liquor license in conjunction with their business license. Please review the Twin Oaks Municipal Code related to alcoholic beverages.
Businesses are also required to obtain all applicable liquor licenses and approvals prior to commencing alcohol sales. The following documentation is required:
