Spring Park Updates
Twin Oaks Public Works staff has been busy readying the park for the spring season! At a recent meeting, the Board of Aldermen approved moving forward with the removal of the sand volleyball court due to low usage, high maintenance needs and safety issues created by the presence of sand near the porous surface of the playground. It will be sodded with turf grass for the time being, in preparation for future potential park projects. The adjacent bench and tree will remain.
As a reminder, the parking area and access road at the park will close in early July in preparation for our pedestrian improvement project. This project is funded through a grant from the Municipal Park Commission and will add a sidewalk and additional stormwater control to the east side of the access and parking, making the area much safer for all visitors entering and exiting parked vehicles and walking down into the park. During this time, the park will generally remain open for walk in visitors, with the exception of periods when there is active construction taking place.
Spring Clean Out Weekend
For your convenience, the City has scheduled a Spring Clean Out Weekend on March 28-29. Dumpsters will be delivered to locations on the streets of Ann Avenue, Boly Lane, Golden Oak Court and the intersection of Birnamwood Trail/Autumn Leaf Drive. Please note the following items will not be accepted - electronics of any kind, appliances, and paint or other liquids. All items must be below the top of the dumpster; no mounding permitted.

Twin Oaks Celebrates 20 Years as a Tree City
2026 marks the 20th year in a row Twin Oaks has received the prestigious designation of Tree City USA from the Arbor Day Foundation. Each year in April, Twin Oaks invites a neighboring school to help us celebrate Arbor Day by bringing students to the park to learn about the importance of trees in our community and help us plant a new tree or two in the park. This year, the 4th Grade Class from Valley Park Elementary will be joining us on April 21st for the celebration.
